What is your morning routine before setting off for work?
First off get up, get my daughter up too. I wake about 7.15 and then I try to get her out of bed before 8am, with great difficulty.
A daily battle!
When she finally gets up at about 7.50, we have breakfast, usually Weetabix or a yoghurt then we’re then get ready to walk to school after doing the usual checklist, bag, books, lunch and a dispute over her hair!
I then walk back home, jump in my car and head into Liverpool. It takes about 30 minutes, so I can think about what’s ahead for me.
What was your background before joining Hayes & Finch
Left school and took a job as a ‘live in’ milkman whilst studying Agriculture at college. I ended up leaving college early as an opportunity to work alongside my Father at Hayes & Finch came along. He then mentored me for the following 8 years, before his retirement.
He was Candle foreman and I owe my knowledge to him.
What is a typical day at H+F like for you?
Busy and challenging.
As well as offering consultancy and candle development to our customers – we are ever expanding our own InScents range – which is rewarding work, especially when you work in a manufacturing facility that makes candles on site and you get to see the end product.
As part of our consultancy we offer advice and recommendations for our customers own candles, be it wick or wax.
What is your favourite part about working with the Commercial Team?
Working with the team on bringing new products through and the processes we go through to achieve that is both challenging and at times a great laugh too!
How do you spend your free time outside of the office?
A lot of my spare time is devoted to making sure my daughter gets to enjoy all the activities she loves to take part in and as a keen Liverpool supporter, I try to watch as much as I can.
What things cheer you or make you happy?
A smile on my daughters face, banter with my mates, the reds winning and the satisfaction of achieving challenging product development!
What device did you use to answer these questions?
On my pc.
